DBA/Assumed Name Publication Services

Many states require that when a DBA (also known as an “assumed name” or a “fictitious business name”) is registered, a notice must also be published.

Platinum Filings can satisfy all DBA publication requirements, regardless of the state. Below, we provide more information on the specific regulations of each state.

Nebraska

A notice must be published and a Proof of Publication must be filed with the Secretary of State. The Proof of Publication must be filed within 45 days of the DBA registration, under threat of cancellation.

Pennsylvania

A notice must be published in both a newspaper of general circulation and the proper legal publication or newspaper, both in the same county as the business. The proper legal publication can be identified by the corresponding county courthouse or county bar association. As part of our complete publication service, Platinum Filing will determine the proper publication.

California

Once the DBA has been filed, the individual or entity must publish the details of the DBA. Furthermore, an Affidavit of Publishing must be retrieved from the paper and filed with the County Clerk within the 30 days following the publishing. Platinum Filing handles all of the above.

Florida

A notice must be published and a Certification of Publication must be filed. The Certification must come from a newspaper in the county of the entity’s primary place of business.

Illinois

A notice must be published once a week for three consecutive weeks in a newspaper in the same county that the DBA was filed. The first publication needs to be within 15 days after the filing, and a Proof of Publication must be filed with the County Clerk within 50 days of the DBA filing, under threat of cancellation.

Minnesota

After the DBA has been filed, a notice must be published for two consecutive issues in a newspaper in the county of the entity’s primary place of business.

Georgia

For filing a DBA Georgia, a business must publish a notice, which should be a copy of the trade name application. The notice must run at least once a week for two consecutive weeks, and must be published in the newspaper used by the county sheriff's office for legal advertisements.
